Gimbal is reserved for three planned, repeatable camera moves — the shots where a smooth, pre-visualized path actually adds value instead of costing you a reaction shot:

Rig tip: balance the gimbal once during load-in (10:00–10:15) for the a7R IV + Sigma 24-70mm. Since the lens doesn't change all day, that single calibration holds for all three windows — no re-balancing later. Use a quick-release plate on a sling strap so the handheld-to-gimbal swap takes seconds, and keep the gimbal stowed on your back (not in a bag) during every handheld block so it's ready without a dig.
